Stanley "Stan" Samuels was an angst-ridden Norquay high school student who grew up under the often smothering guidance of his parents. His father wanted him to go into law while his free-spirited mother hoped he would go into arts. After graduating school, he interned at Wake Industries' Labs. During a road-trip with his friends, Stan's Car begins to act up; as does the weather and causes a hiatus in their journey.
As Stan tries to call for assistance, he is then remarkably struck by lightning. effecting his neurological center the most; Alan Wake (Of Wake Industries) vows to save his best friend.
Alan takes Stan to Wake Industries where his only option is to cybernetically enhance Stan's neurological center, whilst trying to siphon electricity from a generator to create "synthetic bioelectricty" the voltage is set too high and leaves Stan with the fallibility to expel, recharge and use the reserve electricity to vitalize his attributes. Orbit offers him the chance to use his powers for good, to which he accepted; thus the creation of Electroman, serving justice like lightning!

Superhuman Stamina: The electricity generated by his body also reduces fatigue, allowing him to exert himself for long duration of time.

Superhuman Strength: being in top physical shape, allows him to be stronger then normal humans. He can increase his overall strength by stimulating his muscles with electricity. Electroman can further enhance his strength, by erecting a force field around his body. He often uses his force field to intimidate attackers, as to show them he can ignore their attacks.

Superhuman Reflexes: Stan is capable of reacting at lightning speeds. His mind and eyes are capable of process information at such speeds, that time appears to have slowed down.

Force-field projection: He can also produce highly concentrated electric force fields that are powerful enough to deflect bullets and very high levels of impact such as oncoming vehicles, physical attacks from other superhumans, grenades, explosives, artillery fire, missiles, fire, and most energy attacks.

Flight: Electroman can fly by charging his lower body with electric energy, allowing him to fly at the speed of light.

Bio-electric Manipulation: Can access superhuman levels in their brains further than processing information. They can test theories, understand difficult equations and run trial and error in their brains at superhuman speeds. Different conduits access this activity in different ways.

Electrokinesis: Electroman can generate and control/manipulate electricity; He can also use various electrical attacks and manipulate different forms of electricity. Stan is able to manipulate bio-electric currents that exist within all aspects of the body existing in the nervous system, heart and muscles whether his own or his opponents/targets. Electroman is also capable of channeling his bio-electrical energy into attacks or even drain the bio-electrical energies that may dwell within another being. Exactly how much electrical energy Stan can generate is unknown, but he can easily stun and/or kill a man with his internal powers.

Electricity Absorption: Electroman can absorb electrical energy, and utilize it for various purposes which include: enhancing his speed, convert the electrical energy into some other form of energy, use the electrical energy to regenerate/heal himself, and enhance all his powers/abilities.

Electricity Projection:Electroman can project electricity through his hands to stun his enemies; He can electrify people/objects with a mere touch. His blasts/projections are usually in the color Blue. The electrical currents can either stun the victim or kill them. Stan can increase his electrical projections by simply ionizing the hydrogen atoms in the atmosphere, creating ultra-high level static discharges and having the potential to create electrical storms that have hundreds of lightning strikes per minute (the average lightning strike contains a billion volts of electricity). He can discharge streams of electricity (in the form of arc-strands, or single arcs that resemble lightning bolts), that can be used to attack his opponents. Electroman is capable of discharging destructive electrical energy that flows through the air negating all resistance that may be received from air or space. The destructive electrical energy is capable of destroying an entire area.

Electroprotation: Electroman can transport himself by electricity, lightning, or electronics. He can also transport by the electrons in the air, static discharges and electrical components.

Ionization: Black Lightning can ionize different types of atoms and molecules, by simply heating up air/gas, electrical activity, or changes in the air's electric fields, etc. He can create plasma that he can use as a ionized air channel/medium to allow electric current to flow through, thereby creating electricity. He can also tap into a variety of different energies and cause certain ionization to produce positive electricity.

Electrostatic Cling: Electroman's powers have also induced a mutagenic, cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction (electrostatic force) between molecular boundary layers. This overcomes the outer electron shell's normal behavior of mutual repulsion with other outer electron shells and permits the tremendous potential for electron attraction to prevail. The mentally controlled sub-atomic particle responsible for this has yet to be identified. This ability to affect the attraction between surfaces is so far limited to Spider-Man's body (especially concentrated in his hands and feet) and another object, with an upper limit of several tons per finger, this allows him to climb up walls with relative ease.

Electric Pull: The user can create a tether-like electric arc  that clings to objects through magnetic or electrostatic attraction and can be used to hoist one's self to destinations, or pull objects towards the user.

Electrical Detection: Electroman's electrical powers also grant him certain sensory and manipulative abilities. By "feeling" the course of electricity through the circuitry of any electrically-powered device, Electroman can override the system and make the device obey his mental commands. Electroman can disconnect alarm systems, control computers in a limited way, or overload any electrically controlled system that is insufficiently shielded.

Electrocution: The electric flux of Electroman's skin is such that when his electric charge is at a maximum, a person touching him is in danger of being electrocuted.

Recharging: By using an external electrical power source to recharge his body's energy reserves, he could expend electrical energy indefinitely without diminishing his personal reserves.

Anger Empowerment: Due to his Bio-electrical energy Stan becomes stronger, faster, more durable, etc. the angrier he gets. Overall, his powers become dramatically more powerful, the madder he gets. In a battle with Orbit, his powers became more and more intense as he got angrier. With this increase in power, Electroman shattered blocks of the Markovian Village.

Electrical Healing: Electroman can heal himself and others by using electricity, by absorbing electrons and using them to stimulate molecules, renewing damaged cells.

Electromagnetic Manipulation: Electromagnetism is the ability to manipulate electrically charged particles. Characters with this ability can attract or repel objects, create or manipulate magnetic poles and create or manipulate electrical currents. Certain characters with this power use their own bodies as magnetic poles whereas others will charge an object with a polarity to all it to attract to their bodies.

Electromagnetic Flight: Electroman is also capable of sustaining flight for very long distances and at varying speeds. He apparently has several means by which he achieves flight, one of which is by riding along the planet's natural magnetic lines of force, another by simply creating a repulsive force between himself and the planet, propelling himself thus. However, in order to travel in space, Stan requires and is limited by the interior capacity of his force field to breathe.

Electromagnetic Sight: By concentrating, Electroman can perceive the world around himself as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. He can perceive the natural electromagnetic auras given off by living beings.

Electromagnetic Wave Sense: The user can manipulate and detect radio waves and frequencies as well as things that use radio waves, such as AM and FM waves, TV radio waves/frequencies as well as waves/frequencies from cell phones, AM or FM radio, Radar, he can also generate
